About

Center for Japanese Mental Health (CJMH) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to improving access to culturally and linguistically appropriate mental health information, support, and care for Japanese-speaking and culturally connected communities.

Our Mission

CJMH works to make reliable mental health information and appropriate support easier to find across languages, cultures, families, and countries. We focus on mental health education, community outreach, resource guidance, and culturally informed support pathways.

Why CJMH

Language and culture can shape how people understand mental health, talk about concerns, seek help, and navigate systems of care. Japanese-speaking individuals and multicultural families may also face additional challenges when living or moving between countries.

CJMH was created to help address these gaps through culturally informed education, outreach, guidance, and professional collaboration.

Our Work

Our current work includes mental health education and resources, community outreach, support and resource navigation, cross-cultural education, and professional development. Limited counseling may also be available to individuals residing in Japan through appropriately licensed counselors.
