Suicide Claimed More Japanese Lives Than COVID

Far more Japanese people died by suicide in 2020 (21,081), exacerbated by the economic and social repercussions of the pandemic, than by COVID-19 itself. Male suicides declined slightly while the rate of femaile suicides increased 15%. As of Oct 2021, child suicides increased 33% over the prior year. Read more

What is CJMH?

The Center for Japanese Mental Health was formed in 2014 as a 501(c)(c3) nonprofit, charitable organization to improve the mental health and well-being of people of Japanese descent everywhere, especially those who live and work outside Japan as they have fewer culturally and linguistically appropriate resources available to them.
