CJMH is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors whose members bring experience in mental health, medicine, law, nonprofit leadership, and service to Japanese and Japanese American communities.

Dr. Miwa Hitsumoto, PsyD, LMFT
Executive & Clinical Director
Dr. Hitsumoto is a licensed marriage and family therapist with extensive experience working with Japanese-speaking, multicultural, and cross-cultural individuals and families. She has served as CJMH’s Executive and Clinical Director since the organization’s founding and provides clinical leadership for its mental health education, outreach, and professional activities.
Gilbert M. Nishimura
Board Member
Gilbert Nishimura is a founding partner of Seki Nishimura & Watase LLP, a Los Angeles law firm. He has extensive experience in civil litigation and has also been active in Japanese American civic and professional organizations.
Helen Chen, MD
Board Member
Dr. Chen is a physician and board-certified radiation oncologist with longstanding involvement in Asian American and Japanese American medical and community organizations. She brings a medical and community-health perspective to CJMH’s Board of Directors.
Yoshiyuki Taki
Board Member
Yoshiyuki Taki is an attorney whose professional work has included immigration matters involving Japanese individuals, families, and businesses in the United States. He has supported CJMH since its founding.
Natalie Profant Komuro
Board Member
Natalie Profant Komuro has extensive experience in nonprofit leadership, community programs, homelessness services, and public service. She brings nonprofit management and community-service experience to CJMH’s Board of Directors.
