CJMH provides mental health education and community outreach for Japanese-speaking and culturally connected individuals, families, and communities. Our goal is to make reliable mental health information easier to understand, discuss, and use across cultural and linguistic contexts.
Mental Health Education
We develop and share educational information about mental health, relationships, family issues, and other concerns that affect individuals and communities. Our work aims to increase understanding, encourage earlier recognition of concerns, and reduce barriers to seeking appropriate support.
Community Outreach
CJMH participates in community education, presentations, events, and other outreach activities that encourage informed conversation about mental health. We are particularly interested in issues affecting Japanese-speaking communities, multicultural families, people living across countries and cultures, and those navigating unfamiliar mental health systems.
Cross-Cultural Understanding
Mental health concerns do not occur separately from language, culture, family expectations, migration, and social environment. CJMH works to promote greater understanding of these influences among individuals, families, communities, and professionals.
Educational Media
CJMH also develops educational media intended to make difficult mental health topics more approachable.
Watch “Here,” a short film by CJMH about recognizing when a friend may be struggling with suicidal thoughts.
